Here We Go Magic at The Echo, June 15, 2012

Here We Go Magic at The Echo lat night was such a fun and solid show. A Different Ship is still at the top of my favorite releases of the year and it baffles me how it’s not getting more attention. They’re going to blow up soon and they deserve it. If last night’s crowd is any indication, theirs is a sound that reaches all kinds of people – from the usual hip folks of Echo Park to grown ass men. I can’t think of an active band right now that comes close.

They performed mostly songs from the new album, but did not forget to play old favorites like Fangela. Their live rendition of Over The Ocean was especially disarming with frontman Luke Temple’s voice at its relaxed best. I can only think of one thing that could’ve made this show better and that’s a surprise appearance by Janet Pants.

Some of my favorite things are beef jerky, bacon, Benedict Cumberbatch, pistachios (aka the nut of the gods), my husband's face, and coffee.
