[/one_half][one_half_last]One of my personal favorite musicians Thomas Meluch, who goes by Benoît Pioulard, is trying to raise funds to go on tour and rebuild his studio. He’s an excellent musician and a great human being. As we’ve mentioned, he’s set to release a new album next month called Hymnal and we’d love to see him in Los Angeles soon.
In exchange for your support, he’s offering a wide range of goodies including a song inspired by anything you send him – photographs, receipts, lyrics – for $300. This is a great opportunity to support a fantastic artist that we truly believe in. In his own words:
Because of the changing economic climate in the world of music, as well as shifts in the relationship between listeners and creators, it seemed that a campaign like this could be a viable way to raise funds in order to continue the kind of work I love doing so much, and that I hope you enjoy listening to.
I have spent most of the last sixteen months overseas, and now that I am back in the United States I am charged with the task of rebuilding a home studio and dealing with the considerable up-front costs of going on tour to support a new album.
The encouragement and support I’ve received from those who choose to ‘vote with their wallets’ over the years has been incredible and humbling, and it fills me with unending appreciation. I have always enjoyed person-to-person sales of my records and photography, as it bolsters the connection that music & art can provide between people, and it’s something that has meant a lot to me since I began ordering albums directly from artists and independent labels as a teenager.
I hope you’ll see fit to help out, and I look forward to paying back the assistance with some items that I’m rather proud of and into which I’ve put many, many hours of work and consideration.
