Live Review: The Dismemberment Plan and Telekinesis at the Fonda 12/12/13

[white_box]It’s been a long decade of waiting for Los Angeles fans of The Dismemberment Plan. The last time the Washington DC group came to town was 2003 to play at the now defunct Knitting Factory. This time, the group headed to the Fonda Theatre, in support of their newest release, Uncanney Valley. When bands return from a long hiatus it’s often either hit or miss – will the band be just as great as we remembered them or will it be difficult to rekindle that spark? The former is definitely the case with The D Plan, the new material fitting right in with the band’s discography.

Supporting them at the final night of this tour, Seattleites Telekinesis were a perfect fit as tourmates. Michael Lerner and crew powered through their set to rev up the crowd. Several times, Lerner stood up behind his drum kit, conducting impromptu question and answer banter between songs – leading to a friendly debate about his preference for cats over dogs.[/white_box]
