Live Review: Wild Cub and Grizfolk at the El Rey Theatre 8/6/14

Electro-pop quintet Wild Cub filled the El Rey Theatre on August 6th with an amazingly intense set. They were just full of energy from the moment they took the stage and were absolutely engaging. Frontman Keegan DeWitt was all over the stage and by song three, he was already sweating through his jacket. Though the band hails from Nashville, there’s not a hint of folk or Americana in their sounds. They are currently on tour promoting their album Youth and I highly recommend checking them out when you can.

The show was opened by Grizfolk who also burst out unto the stage with such high energy, winning the crowd over immediately. It’s quite hard to define their sound exactly. It’s a little bit of electro-fused rock or alternative-indie-folk. But one thing for sure is that it’s impossible not to dance along once they start playing. The band is set to be back on the road again this fall with Bastille.

He walks this world in search of the perfect pancake. That's his life goal.
