Live Review: La Roux at the Fonda Theatre 9/23/14

British pop revivalist La Roux headlined the Fonda Theatre for her second Los Angeles appearance this year, following an opening slot for New Order at the Greek Theatre in July. Supporting her first studio album in five years, the under appreciated Trouble In Paradise, Elly Jackson weaved through her new collection and her old with great poise, balance and commend. A surprisingly sparse crowd – maybe five years was too long for fans of sleeper Billboard smash “Bulletproof” – gave the more dedicated fans plenty of air to groove to an artist who shouldn’t be written off as simply a one hit wonder. And if La Roux’s rich, textured new take on electro pop is any hint at her future, the best may still be yet to come.
