The audience my have been small, but they were fervent and excited. New York’s Prawn made their way to the Echo for their first ever Los Angeles gig and seemed to be having fun while pounding out some jams reminiscent of the early days of emo. Small crowd aside, the group was clearly happy with the turnout, grinning throughout their entire set.
From Florida, Prawn’s Topshelf Records brethren Frameworks leaned a bit toward the harder side of jamming, but still expressed a melodic undercurrent that engaged the crowd. Singer Luke Pate rocked back and forth on his toes as he belted out lyrics, almost as if he’d leap off the stage any moment.
