Live Review: The Wombats and Life In Film at The Fonda Theatre 5/12/14

Touring in support of their new album Glitterbug, indie-rock outfit The Wombats filled the Fonda Theatre late Tuesday night with their dreamy, post-punk anthems. Dazzling with crowd favorites like, “Greek Tragedy,” and, “Give Me A Try,” lead vocalist Matthew Murphy’s sizzling croons burst onstage with bittersweet candor. Caught somewhere between the synth-powered hooks and boy-band led ballads of similar acts like Smallpools and the pop-rock fire of The Kooks, the trio refused to burn-out as they put on a wildly impassioned performance.

Fellow British-rockers and jangle-pop enthusiasts Life In Film opened for The Wombats–playing through the infectious glamour of their debut EP Here It Comes.
