Michaelson is an amazing performer and a witty comedian. A song dedicated to a dead squirrel, a catwalk on the ramp onstage and a requested sing-a-long show – these were just some memorable things that happened at her show. Along with her piano and ukelele-fueled songs and unstoppable voice, the lovely singer-songwriter flowed across the stage and had the audience in stitches.
My definite highlight of the night was the “Soldier” medley. After the second chorus, Michaelson broke into singing the chorus of Lady Gaga’s “Pokerface”, with the majority of her band then handling portions of other covers. Joan Osborne’s “One of Us”, U2’s “With or Without You”, Richard Marx’s “Right Here Waiting” and “Call Me, Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen.
American three-piece power pop band from the Washington, D.C., Jukebox the Ghost, opened for the night and brought their fun filled set on stage that pulsated through the crowd, adding more new fans to the army that was front and center early in the evening.
