Live Review: The Growlers at The Constellation Room 7/7/15

Conjuring up a tornado of heated passion and sweat, The Growlers nearly tore down the fragile walls of the Constellation Room last Tuesday at their secret show, which served as the announcement of the 2015 Beach Goth lineup. Fans arrived as early as 5 p.m. to join a raffle that served as the only way to gain entry into the event–it would be a long five hours later before Brooks Nielsen and his motley crew of genre-bending misfits would step onstage. By then, the crowd packed into The Observatory’s smaller room was a powder-keg of energy ready to be lit, and Nielsen and company did more than just light the fuse–they made sure it exploded in a wild night filled with tangled bodies and endless crowd-surfing.

Nielsen’s high-pitched, gravelly croons cut through the crowd with their gritty romanticsms, while crowd favorites like “One Million Lovers” and “Someday” sent the packed-in room into a frenzy.

Beach Goth 4 will return to The Observatory on October 24 – 25, and the massive lineup boasts names like Grimes, Die Antwood, Julian Casablancas, Fidlar, Camera Obscura, Ghost, Juicy J, Warpaint, Touche Amore, DIIV, Cherry Glazers, Eagles of Death Metal, Sir Mix-A-Lot, The Growlers themselves, and many more!
