The National has teamed up with Cooperative for Education to for the Thousand Girls Initiative, which aims to benefit girls in need of education in Guatemala. They will be playing an intimate show at the legendary Troubadour on October 16 with tickets going for $150 each going on sale this Friday, August 21st at 10AM PDT.
CoEd was founded by lead singer Matt Berninger’s cousins Joe and Jeff Berninger. “Almost twenty years ago my cousins Joe and Jeff Berninger quit their corporate jobs and started this non-profit. CoEd has already reached more than 150,000 kids with textbooks and computers, and now they’re taking on girls’ education. I’m excited to join the effort to keep 1,000 girls from dropping out of school, which is so common in Guatemala,” stated Berninger. “I’m really proud to be a part of this amazing organization.” The Thousand Girls Initiative hopes to reach 1,000 girls by the year 2020.
This is an amazing opportunity to see your favorite band in probably the most intimate setting you could ever hope for these days while also helping out a great cause. For more information, please visit the official website of Cooperative for Education.
